All writers have their little tricks and shorthand to be better writers, and I am no different. Some of what I do seems unnecessary while other things I do are almost unheard of from others. What I do is what works for me and I share this with my followers (both present and future) in hopes that it helps other writers. Today we discuss working together with your competition.

This article briefly goes over Twitter. Now most of the tools I discuss in my blog will directly help you with writing, but Twitter is a marketing tools, much like other social media sites, such as Facebook, Tumblr, Linked-In, GoodReads, and a variety of others.
Madness Blog-Con PC 14 – Day 1
We are now on Day 1 of the Madness Blog-con PC 14. This is perhaps the least exciting of days, but I do promise to give you something wet your whistle. No, not alcohol. No matter how much you beg for it. But pictures, and lots of them. Be sure to click on them, which will give you a better view. Like Phoenix Comicon, the first day of Madness Blog-con is a prep day, so nothing too too exciting here.
IWSG – Community to the Rescue
Normally I use this post to talk about something bad and depressing. To get through life, I try to ignore my bad feelings and concentrate on my writing. I use this one post a month to let out some of my pent up feelings and hope that others find use out of it.
This month, I am proud to present something positive instead.
Grammar…Why Did it Have to be Grammar — The Truth of Further vs Farther
So I spend quite a bit of time on Twitter, my blog, and NaNoWriMo forums. I am always looking for ways to improve my craft and to offer my insight to others on how they can improve.
One conversation has come up recently that I commented on and was surprised what I saw in this discussion. Further vs Farther. Which do you use? Now, I am guilty that often times I use further when I mean farther because to me it sounds better. To say farther, I have to move my jaw a bit but for further, I only move my tongue.
New site released: http://home.chrisvotey.com
I am pleased to announce my new website, http://home.chrisvotey.com
What is this site? For anyone serious about writing, they need a page where they can show an aspect of their lives and their accomplishments. Also, it is a good idea to have a Press Biography, so if a reporter ever wants to interview you, you can provide them a lot of the information on your site, making their jobs easier.

COOPETITION
Such a stranger word. Basically it is combining Competition and Cooperation together, much like frenemy is a combination of friend and enemy, and is parallel in definition of Coopetition.
Traditional Publishing or Not to Self-Publish
While I should be writing or reviewing other people stories, I got off on a tangent of the marketability of self-publishing versus traditional publishing. In the past, I felt that it was important to self-publishing because of the fear that a traditional publisher would try to force me to market my book for the sake of making money.
But, a recent report suggests that writers who do both self-publishing and traditional publishing have greater success. This has got me to rethink my marketing strategy. While the concern I have of changing my story for marketability for traditional publishing, I think I should be open to the possibility of still doing it if I want a long term career.
