Worldbuilding 14.2 – Silver

Today is a new day for a Worldbuilding article. It takes me several days to produce one of these articles, as I do a lot of research into them, to which I am glad to do. There is a lot of satisfaction when I can bring it all together, and enjoy the feedback, especially on reddit.

Today we discuss Silver. Silver is part of the 7 Metals of Antiquity, which are the known metals of the world until the 1800’s. I plan to cover each of these as they are the most likely metals to show up in your world, especially for fantasy writers.

Worldbuilding #14 – Metals

Welcome to the first article of my new Worldbuilding series. This, in many ways, is a sequel to my previous Worldbuilding series. Unlike the last one, which focused on Geography and Map Making, this series will cover everything else that goes into Worldbuilding. The goal with this is to be able to answer questions that many other Worldbuilding sources will ask you. This series will help educate you on a variety of topics that are important to designing your world that you likely never thought about before.

Welcome to another edition of Internet Writer’s Support Group. A time honoured tradition for my site where I reveal my thoughts and feelings as a writer. Sometimes those thoughts are good, other times, not so good. Today, I will discuss my new Patreon account. What is it, why am I doing it, and how this will affect me as a writer.

Worldbuilding #12 – Municipal

worldbuilding logo2Welcome to the second to last article of the Map-Making portion of the Worldbuilding series. Today we do a brief talk about Municipals. This won’t go into detail about the different type of Municipals; those will be a discussion at a later time, as each one requires its own article.

Today we’ll generate some random Municipal locations, such as Cities, Villages, Towns, and Hamlets. After that, I will show you a technique that will allow you to clean up your map for finalization.

Official NaNoWriMo Winner

Winner-2014-Web-BannerNaNoWriMo2014 - Success

On November 16th, 2014, I officially over 50,000 words. My story, which will be turned into five books, was Daygar Legacy #1 – Templar Five. The story is about Vampires in the 14th century spreading a disease that is killing humans at an alarming rate and five knights of the former Templar Knights attempt to make a deal with the devil to try to win the war.

This was a challenging time. Mostly because of my disability, I couldn’t do as much as I wanted. I aimed to finish by the 14th like I did last year. I came close, but I was shy 2 days. I think that is still very impressive. Also, given that I am a science fiction writer and I am doing Historical Fiction, Fantasy, and Paranormal, it was hard at times for me to write. Completely out of my comfort zone. As I wrote, I had to do additional research on the time period to get key facts correct.

I want to thank the creators of Write Monkey, as with their software, I was able to write my story despite my sensitivity to light. I dedicate my success this year to all those with disabilities, whether with Post-Concussion Syndrome, those with Traumatic Brain Injuries, or other disabilities that prevents someone from living they life they want. Writing was very hard for me, and the only way I did it was by forcing myself to do it, even if my brain wanted to give up. My reward is the next two weeks off.

With Thanksgiving coming up, and a few other special projects I am currently engaged in, I am taking a break from this blog. I will come back in December, hopefully to finish up my rivers on the worldbuilding tutorial. However, I will be limited in December. I plan to come back in full force in January.

Special thanks to Nicohle Christopherson for giving me emotional support during NaNo.

Countdown to NaNo — Introduction

Participant-2014-Twitter-ProfileNovember 1st is soon upon us, and it is time for NaNoWriMo. Already been a year… what a year it has been. I published one book, which has great reviews. I have met a great number of people who have given me fantastic support. I rubbed elbow with authors, and I now have a voice within the community. A small one, but it is there.

It was last years NaNo that convinced me to become an author once more. I didn’t just complete it, I annihilated it. 50,000 words in 14 days. Will I do it again? I don’t know. I know I’ll get 50,000 words. Maybe in 40 days, maybe in 10 days.

Daygar Legacy – Chapter 1 Part 1

daygar legacy coming soonAt long last, the first part of Chapter 1 is available for view. This has been 4 years in the making. The purpose of this is to show those who support my Kickstarter campaign what they are investing in. Admittedly, it is with mistakes. It is only a first draft and could use the hand of a professional. However, I am very proud of how it came together and this is just but a taste of what the rest of the novel will be like.

The first book is called Templar Five. This book explores what that means and will set the tone for the rest of the series. A lot happens in this short text. This is to support my Kickstarter campaign so everyone can see what they are investing in.

IWSG — July Optimisim

IWSG badgeSo, quite a bit to talk about in this one. I try to reserve IWSG for the woes in life but too many good things have happened as of late for me to do that. Going forward, I hope the good times continue.

Of course saying that, I’m inviting impending doom. But talking about the impending doom will bring me good fortune. It all works out in the end.

IWSG – Community to the Rescue

IWSG badgeNormally I use this post to talk about something bad and depressing. To get through life, I try to ignore my bad feelings and concentrate on my writing. I use this one post a month to let out some of my pent up feelings and hope that others find use out of it.

This month, I am proud to present something positive instead.
