IWSG – 1 Year Anniversay – Same Old

IWSG badgeA month has gone by already and here we are. Today is a special day amongst all others, as we are celebrating the anniversary of the Internet Writer’s Support Group. Special thanks to Kristin Smith, Elsie, Suzanne Furness, Fundy Blue and of course Alex J. Cavanaugh

If you are not aware of what IWSG is, in short, it is a time for writers to open their hearts and tell the writing community what ails them. Mostly a way to let other writers know they are not alone.

Help Keep This Site Running

This site is a great achievement for me, but due to being unable to work, I may not be able to keep this site running. With your help, I might be able to.

I need $125 by October 30th, 2017. Anything you can give will help.

These days my big concern is my Kickstarter campaign. Which so far has been under whelming. I’ve tried to be patient with it and be positive. I’ve sent out a lot of emails, I’m doing guest blogging posts, and I getting my cause out there… and I am falling short. Not by a small amount, but by a lot.

This really perplexes me. There was a Kickstarter campaign where someone raised $50k for potato salad. Yet the idea of asking people to give just a little bit to help me out, which could eventually lead to finding a treatment for myself so I am not cured forever with Post Concussion Syndrome.

I haven’t given up hope yet, but I already feel defeated. I am hoping that somewhere in left field a lot of people start donating. However, I do have my doubts. I only try so hard so I can say that I’ve done everything I can. I have been pushing myself so hard, that I had to take a week off just to recover.

The only bit of sad news, thanks to my condition is that I am no longer able to play video games. I consider myself to be a gamer since a very young age. I love them a lot and my mind is unable to deal with them anymore. It pains me to give up something that gives me happiness. Video games were really the last thing I had of my old life, besides writing, that took me away from the turmoil that is now my life.

The only bit of good news I can report on is that I have achieved 10,000 views on my blog, with 4,000 visitors since I went live in March. It has been quite an interesting journey, mostly thanks to reddit and my worldbuilding series. I haven’t gotten much comments, but it is hard to ignore the views I got. I also beat my old record of most views in a day, from 385 to 755. Also, most views in a month, from 2055 in July to 3599 for September. In fact, if you combine June and August, I come up with 3284.

It’s a small victory for my blog, and I predict that this time next year, I will be at 50,000 views.

The other news is that I got my first check from Amazon. It is for $7.70. I don’t care about the amount though. I care that it is a payment for me selling books. That is a big deal. I am now a professional writer. Not a successful one, but I now have the money from my sales. Super big deal in my opinion.

Even if I fail my Kickstarter, I will continue to write. It will make my journey difficult. It is what it is though. While I have these small victories, and they help me during this tough time in my life, I could use a big win. I’m due for one of those.

If you are interested in helping with my Kickstarter, do note that you can donate now and won’t be charged until the end of the month. If I get 3000 people donate $1, I meet my goal. Just $1 holds great power.

See you next month.
