Madness Blog-Con PC 14 – Tom Leveen

tombioAny great experience you have is met with a great memory. The great thing about Comicon is that there are many opportunities to have a great experience. Each panel you go to, each party you attend, and every person you meet is a new chance to have an unforgettable memory.

The key to a great memory is getting out there and getting it. Rarely does it come to you.

On our next stop, we get a chance encounter with Tom Leveen.

Tom Leveen was born and raised in Arizona, where he currently lives with his wife and son. Like many writers, he started a tender age. He read a short story in grade 2 he wrote to his class.

Tom has had over 20 years of theatre experience, both as an actor and as a director. He also founded two companies, Chyro Arts Venue and What it is Theatre.

He eventually made the move from theatre to writing full time as a Young Adult author. I believe I heard him speak once that threatre helped him become a writer as theatre is all about dialogue, and this enhanced his writing. He’s been told that his dialogue is top notch.

In 2010, he released his first book, Party. Since then, he has released 5 books so far with no plans of stopping.

This was my second time meeting with him. One of the few I remember from years prior. We spoke of his career and my career, and I asked him some questions about what is YA writing. From him I understand that when it comes to YA writing, everything has significant meaning, including sex. Yes, it can have sex, but there is meaning behind it and consequences as well.

By chance, I was able to get a copy of his book, Zero. It is on my summer reading list, which of course I will give a review of.

I enjoyed meeting Tom again. He’s a laid back sort of guy, someone you can drink with and just BS. Like many authors, he was a delight, and I hope to see him again in the near future.

DL - T5 - Smashwords Cover miniRead the series that makes vampires a scary monster in the shadows once more, and the bravery of knights as the one weapon to stop their spread of a deadly disease.

[Author] writing is powerful and inspite of absence of gory descriptions, the fear factor exists. There is an aura of fear and valour at the same time.

“The plot is an incredibly intriguing one, and it certainly picks up after a few revealing details.”

“It’s hard to say much without giving the story away but I can say that there are a few twists in the plot that you probably won’t expect.”
