Liebster Award Nomination

Until a few days ago, I actually never heard of this. Then again, I’ve never really had a blog anyone was ever interested in. This is actually my 5th blog I’ve ever had.

I got a nomination from Alison Strachan and I was a bit surprised. A chance to win an award and bring people to my new site. Show people what great elements can be found here and perhaps get some people to sign up so I can deliver member specific content. Then I found out it was essentially a chain mail.

The origins of the Liebster Award is shrouded in mystery and there is no actual award. It is just, as I said, a chain mail. Unlike normal chain mail, this is really a social networking opportunity. There is no, email 11 people and your next book will be a success and if you ignore it, then no one will read your book. If it were that, then I wouldn’t be doing this post.

I gave it serious thought though if I were to do this or not. I am pretty busy these days, keeping my deadlines and working on my site, this seemed like a waste of time. But then I realized that someone recognized my blog, either in that I need help, or to help draw attention to me, and the least I can do is pay it forward. That one of the key components of this site is to help other writers like myself. So below is the answers to Allison’s questions, and the people I nominate, and last the questions I have for them.

What books have shaped who you are and how you write?
I’m sure this is asking fiction books. Unfortunately, there are many books I can’t remember reading. Off the top of my head, I would say Stephen King’s “On Writing” is a big one, Joanna Penn “How to Market a Book”. I’m actually pretty bad about not reading books as often as I should. I hope to change that in the coming months. I am starting to help others by proofreading other works and providing reviews, something on the side if you will.

What are you working on right now?
Right now I am working on a short story Sci-fi story that involves time travel. I hope to be done in a few days. After that, I will be undertaking a short story for 2 months involving 1300’s Europe in a fantasy setting.

Do you consider yourself to be fairly creative?

Despite my disability, I still consider myself a highly creative. I have been like that all my life.

If you haven’t already (or even if you have) would you choose self publishing or traditional publishing?
For 2014, I am sticking to self-publishing. I am hoping in 2015 or 2016 to break into traditional publishing while maintain self-publishing

Do you prefer ebooks or paperbacks?
It depends on what format. If it is paperback vs .mobi or .epub, then I prefer ebook. If it is paperback vs .pdf, I prefer paperback.

Do you love or hate social media?
I question whether or not social media has affect our society to a point of being more disconnected. However, I have met some amazing writers and authors. I have also connected to many people from my past.

Are you an introvert or extravert, and has it helped or hindered you?
With the difficulties of my disability, I’m forced to be introvert. Prior to my injury, I was a little of both.

What piece of clothing could you not live without (apart from bra/underwear)?
Well, while I can’t live without a bra…
I would say blue jean pants. I love how it feels when wearing.

What is more important to you – standing up for what you believe in/maintaining the truce?
I find value in both, but if I had to choose one, I would choose standing up for what you believe in. Not everyone can maintain a truce.

What blunder have you made that you desperately wish didn’t happen?
I don’t know

If you could go anywhere in the world and make a difference, where would it be?
Mars. In history, there is a pattern that in order for mankind to evolve, we need to expand. Make Mars livable for mankind would expand the evolution of our species.

My nominees:

Natasha Raulerson
Ceri London
Callie Armstrong
Nicohle Christopherson (site being designed)
Eileen Shyler
J. Rose Allister
Gabriella West
