New Year for Me

You often hear people say to only speak positively. That any negativity is a sin. I can’t live my life that way, I must be realistic in my goals. That being said, I do set my goals high, but not to the point they are unobtainable. To this effect, I am a realist. I take the good and bad together to make my decisions.

2014 is going to be the start of my writing career. I plan to do a lot of writing and marketing and getting my name out there. It would be great if I become a famous right with my first book, but realistically, I will gain a good following of people and make a meager start. When I think of my writing career, I think of it as a business plan, and I set myself out for five years, not a few months.

My goals for 2014 is to write 10 short stories by the end of the year. That might seem like a lot, and there is a good chance I will fail. But I think it is an obtainable goal, and there is the saying (that I updated for my use):

Aim for the stars, and if you fall short, you land on the moon. Aim for the moon, and if you fall short, you land back on Earth.

So, I aim for the obtainable rather than the sure thing, just in case I fall short. But why so many short stories? I’ve got to get my name out there and I need to show potential fans what I am capable of. What stories I can entice them with, to take them away to a magical place. I want to be a writer and be successful at it. To get there, I need to write, connect with friends and fans, and market myself. It will be hard work.

I also plan to get my blog to a new level. I have many articles and I want to use it to help other authors like myself. I will look at the English language and question all the rules that we’ve been taught, look at various plots and characters in media, and will update my pages to offer a lot more fun stuff for everyone.

My New Year doesn’t start until the first Monday of January. I am putting myself on a set schedule for writing, marketing, website design, and other writer related things. Definitely stay tune to my twitter feed for daily update and my general goofiness. I have a book coming out soon, Terran Psychosis. It started off as a six page joke that turned into a 30 page mystery.

“The plot is an incredibly intriguing one, and it certainly picks up after a few revealing details.”

“It’s hard to say much without giving the story away but I can say that there are a few twists in the plot that you probably won’t expect.”
