Biography

For most people in the world, the last thing they want to do is write anything about themselves. How do you write something that shows how great you are and the struggles you’ve dealt with, without sounding preachy or full of yourself?
As writers, we need to say something that causes readers to connect to us. Funny enough, being a good writer and being someone customers can relate to are both equally important when it comes to selling books.
At M.E.S., we know what is needed in a biography, and what to leave out. All too often, what a writer thinks should go into a biography is what many other writers think. This in turn makes all biographies sound the same. Our goal is to help your biography stand out from others.

How will this work?

If you desire to have this service, be sure to mention it in the request form. You can either send us a biography you have written, or we will send you a questionnaire that will help us determine what to include in your biography. The more you give us, the more we can work with. We will then work with you to fine tune it.

How long will the Biography be?

We have three basic sizes. Short, Long, and Extended.

A Short Biography is ideal for anywhere there is a character limit for your biography, or you wish to post it on a forum or blog. You’ll probably use this form more than any other; it includes the most important information about you, that is directly related to your career now.

A Short Biography will likely be between 40 to 75 words. It will be either one medium paragraph, or two small paragraphs.

Christopher D. Votey is an author with five books to his name, an editor, a teacher, and hosts a successful blog where he writes about Worldbuilding and other writing education. In 2012, he suffered a work related injury that left him permanently disabled, unable to live a normal life.

Long Biography is ideal for for any social media site that doesn’t have a character limit, or About the Author section of your book. Long Biography generally has 3 – 4 paragraphs, which includes more information about who you are, including any personal achievements you’ve obtained, and any goals or projects you’re currently doing.

Christopher D. Votey has dedicated his life to writing and education. That includes mentoring other writers and posting articles on his blog, which includes Worldbuilding and Literary Terms.

After back-to-back success with NaNoWriMo, in which he did both in 14 days, Chris knew that he was now ready to live our his childhood dream.

Unfortunately, he suffered a setback in 2012 when he was diagnosed with Post-Concussion Syndrome. This disability has made him unable to work a ‘regular’ job. Chris discovered that writing was his only career choice, enabling him to set his own schedule to work around the challenges he faced.

Now, he works hard to heal himself from his injuries. He has released five books with many more on the way. He also has an editing business, and will be releasing online courses about writer productivity.

Extended Biography is good to have on your blog about section or to include in your Press Kit. This can feature more specific information about you that you would otherwise leave out of the first two. This biography saves them time for anyone who would want to research who you are.
An Extended Biography is usually up to a page, but no longer than a page and a half. For that reason, I won’t show an example here.

What if I already have a biography, would you look at that for me?

We would be more than happy to. However, whether you write one yourself, or ask us to write one for you, the costs remains the same, as editing a biography is basically rewriting it.

How much will this cost?

Like other costs, we will require a down payment up front through PayPal. Once we are finished, we will require the remainder of the money before delivery.

Short: $30
Long: $45
Extended: $60
All: $100
